WHAT IS NUTRITIONAL THERAPY?

A therapeutic approach using nourishment as part of a multi-modality protocol in supporting many acute and chronic health conditions ranging from minor skin issues to more complex conditions such as neurological complaints and cancer.

The body is a truly fascinating organ in that it’s primary function is to stay alive. It achieves this through a plethora of mechanisms aimed at maintaining “ Homeostasis” through healing.

Unfortunately life throws at us a smorgasboard  of challenges every minute of the day.

Pollution, toxins, stress and disease to name but a few. The body’s defences can become overwhelmed as a result, causing illness and disease. Nutrition, Lifestyle and Supplements when used in the correct major aim to address these challenges and support the body in achieving optimum balance and the restoration of health.

Food, as a medicine, should never be underestimated – its power is phenomenal and the results of implementation can be life-changing. I am testament to this after a journey of almost 12 years, supporting my poor health through food changes, supplements and lifestyle changes.

WHAT DOES IT INVOLVE?

A typical consultation involves a case history taking, lasting up to 2 hours, in which we discuss previous health issues, childhood illness,  and genetics, alongside presenting symptoms, lifestyle and food choices and current medications.

I will ask you to keep a food journal of between 5 and 7 days prior to the consultation in order for this to be analysed on the day. I will also ask for any up to date tests results which may be useful in determining the correct protocol. This is your opportunity to express all your feelings regarding your health, in a safe and secure environment.

I will then devise a plan to be followed for the next 4 weeks- covering food choices and the reasons for the changes, lifestyle changes and a supplement programme if required.

I will also forward recipes on to you, if needed, alongside handouts for specific issues or further reading which may be relevant.

A follow-up consultation, lasting up to 1 hour,  will be scheduled within the following 4 weeks , whereby we discuss your progress, the affects of the changes and the compliance/ or non compliance of the protocol. At this stage, we decide if any changes need to be made and another plan will be devised for you for another 4 weeks.

Subsequent follow-ups may involve having lab testing done, to try and pinpoint any underlying variables  which give us more to focus on and they can be a great tool in identifying underperforming systems in the body. Tests are wide ranging from standard vitamin deficiencies right up to specific cellular dysfunction.
